Harlow Museum offers a wide range of bespoke and collaborative learning opportunities for all ages. Our education officer will liaise with you to tailor a one-off session or ongoing project with your class or group.

Primary and secondary schools
In-museum visits
Visit the museum and explore a variety of different curriculum-based sessions. We are always developing our offer, current sessions available for groups include Romans, Transport, History of Harlow, Harlow New Town and more.
Workshops at your school
A member of our team visits your school with engaging talks, exciting activities and real museum artefacts to inspire learning. Workshops can be tailored to your school’s curriculum, current topics include History of Harlow, Harlow New Town, Toys and Hobbies and more.
Loan boxes
Borrow a box of amazing artefacts to enhance your pupils’ classroom experience. Each loan box contains real and replica artefacts, teacher notes and suggested activities for pupils to enjoy. Boxes can be borrowed and cost £18 for six weeks.
Extended and specialist projects
We are happy to assist students with research for specialist projects, including Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and History projects and assignments.

Museum visits
Student groups are welcome visit the museum and explore our fantastic collection. We can offer pre-arranged talks and tours on a variety of specialist areas.
Research and specialist projects
We are happy to assist students with specialist research projects and thesis research. The study centre provides archive materials, newspaper records, maps, drawings, oral histories, local photographs and parish records and is available via appointment.

Families
Families are warmly welcomed to the museum all year round. Explorer kits are free to borrow and encourage children to explore more closely using a magnifying glass and pair of binoculars. Pick up a free trail and learn all about the amazing history of Harlow. Keep up to date with upcoming events and activities on our What’s On page.

Communities
Museum tours
Community groups are welcome to visit the museum and view our collections, artefacts and receive specialist talks/tours. Visits can be tailored to your group’s interests.
In the community
For groups unable to visit the museum, we provide an outreach service which takes ideas and objects related to the collection into the community. Our expert facilitators can travel to your venue and give interactive talks about the museum.
