Here are a selection of questions we often get asked at the museum. If you still don’t find the answer to your question, get in touch using one of the methods listed above.

Admission to both the museum and gardens is FREE.

You do not need to book in advance to visit the museum. However, some events held at the museum have limited capacity and may need to be booked, more information on such events can be found on the What’s On page.

We offer tea, coffee, water, squash, and snacks for a small donation. You are also welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the garden.

We have a small shop with a great selection of local history books, postcards and souvenirs for all ages.

Dogs are welcome in the gardens on leads.

The museum is on one level and is completely wheelchair accessible, please be aware some pathways in the gardens are shingle surfaced.

You don’t need to book to look at the newspaper archives. However, to prevent overcrowding we would prefer you to call 01279 446 222 to let us know how long you will be needing the space.

No, like most museums we only have a small fraction of our collection on display.
